I create performances and ephemeral collages in gardens, galleries, warehouse spaces, gutted stores, boats, bombed out buildings, and theaters. In my teens and early 20’s I began performing in San Francisco, New Orleans, and New York at underground parties, clubs, and rock and roll shows. I experienced how the venue and audience influence each performance. My interest grew in the nuance and subtly that a performance can contain. The focus being on how qualities in environments and imprints of experience, inform the artistic material and are shaped by visual imagery placed within the body. Choreographic scores are developed in which internal processes are related to external structures, objects and forms. Motivated by politics of the body and movement as well as the transformative nature of performance, the priority is to create visceral experiences where the latent characters, animals, and natural elements contained with in the body are revealed.
I teach movement based classes and Qi Gong for adults in various locations, and dance to kids Children’s International Workshop in Manhattan. I have extensive Butoh training with: Ko Murobushi, Takuya Muramatsu of Dairakudakan, Yumiko Yoshioka, Atsushi Takenouchi. I have teaching certification from Thai Massage School Of Chiang Mai 2004, Reiki level 1& 2 certification, and Soaring Crane Qi Gong Teaching Certification granted by Professor Chen 2003. For 10 years I worked for flower designer, Zinna. I attended New York University, Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and was a National level 9 competitive gymnast.
